Objects of New York

“Objects of New York" invites you into the captivating realm of New Yorkers and their cherished possessions. Whether they were rescued from the street on bulk trash pick up day, bought at a stoop sale or the local Housing Works, gifted from a neighbor or impulse purchased whilst on painkillers, there are countless diverse and intriguing stories behind the objects that hold a special place in the hearts of New Yorkers. Join us as we celebrate these stories, one object at a time.

Ellyn Heald is a New Yorker by way of Texas and Arizona. She has lived in 11 apartments across 4 boroughs and now splits her time between Rhinecliff and Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. She is an actor, musician, former political operative and currently an avid (or rabid?) hunter of antiques and lover of interior design. She is also the founder and artistic director of Living Room Productions, a theater company which hosts monthly 'artist potlucks' in Brooklyn. Her very first 'street find' was a set of chair frames which she repurposed into a set of bookshelves for her first apartment in Harlem.
